Coffee Information
Miguel Pérez is a third-generation coffee producer from Gracias, a small colonial town in western Honduras, where his family has been cultivating coffee since 1990. Following in the footsteps of his late father, Miguel now leads the family enterprise with his wife and children, bringing energy, optimism, and a clear vision for the farm’s future. Just a short drive from Gracias lies San Juan, where Finca Don Miguel’s is located among pine forests, shade trees, avocado, and citrus. The land, between 1,300 and 1,750 masl, offers an almost perfect year round climate for coffee cultivation—never too hot, never too cold. Yet, challenges remain: climate change, labor shortages, and volatile global pricing structures. Miguel, however, chooses resilience over frustration. With family support, certifications, and new experiments, he continues to strengthen his farm’s future.Finca Don Miguel’s is certified Rainforest Alliance, Organic, and Fair Trade, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable production. The farm focuses on varieties such as Catuaí, Itacú, and IH-Café 90, while also investing in the future with a small Geisha plot. This trial marks one of the few Geisha projects in Honduras, and Miguel hopes to harvest the first cherries in early 2026. Alongside varietal development, the Pérez family is expanding into micro-lots, experimental processes, and roasted coffee for local sales through his wife’s brand. Despite difficulties, Miguel views his farm with hope and enthusiasm. His children are already involved, ensuring a new generation is ready to carry forward the legacy of quality, innovation, and family dedication.
